Can short term memory be regained?
My wife’s brother had an episode with drug addiction for about two years. I’m not sure what kind of drugs they were, but I think it was marijuana. He has really poor short term memory…he has trouble recalling names and events from not so long ago. But he is otherwise a really smart guy. He has excellent verbal fluency, writes well, carries on intelligent conversations, and he’s even good with numbers. We let him help with managing the books because he also has a head for business and accounting. He just has to make lists and write everything down or he’ll forget what he’s doing. I’m wondering can he re-build his short term memory? He’s been to rehab and he’s been clean for a couple months now, and his memory has improved a little, but not completely. Is it like a brain injury where that part of his mind is permanently damaged, or can he re-gain a normal working memory again if he continues his sobriety?

I can’t tell you for certain, but I don’t think Marijuana is a drug that would cause permanent brain damage, and that’s really the only way you’re going to get an incurable problem. If his memory is improving it will probably continue to improve, though it seems like it will take a long time from what you say. Have you known him to have much better short-term memory before this episode?

ME! I liked her okay in Cold Creek Manor, In the Land of Women, and The Messengers, but they need to get someone else for Twilight. To me, she just doesn’t fit Bella’s character. She always has that annoying look on her face…. One eyebrow raised, mouth wide open. Who agrees or disagrees? I don’t get mad at disagreements. This is a debate. If you agree, who would you choose to play her? I like the girl from Taken.

I know a LOT of people disagree with me, but I think she was good in the role. The whole thing I got with Bella is that she feels she’s not attractive or likable. I felt that she felt that people would think she wasn’t someone others wanted to know, yet it was the complete opposite. I thought Kristin portrayed that angst very well.

I think a lot of fans expected Kristin to play Bella more emotional and less stoic. It’s always a matter of perception. How Kristin portrays her is how I saw her in the book. Everyone sees Bella a different way and tends to add their own personal feelings and experiences into the character. Personally, the only other person I think that might be able to pull off Bella is Emma Watson. If she hadn’t been so busy with the HP series, she would have been able to bring a lot to the role.

I highly recommend Ranma 1/2, Outlaw Star, FLCL, Hellsing OVA series (a lot better than the orginal hellsing), .hack//Sign, Wolfs Rain, Trigun, and Samurai 7. G Gundam is a master piece also, my favorite growing up (next to DBZ)

I’m not gonna give you a long list. I’m just gonna list some of my personal favorites that I highly recommend. I have seen most of the anime you’ve listed, and these that I suggested still make my top list.

Some others I like are .hack//Legend of the Twilight, Lupin the Third, and Paranioa Agent, there not the best animes in the world, but still pretty dang good.

i got married this year [[im 20yrs old]]
but my last three years when i was living with my parents my step-dad made MY life hell..
i was raised with him ever since i was 3 years old but when he started drinking more & more things got ugly..

for example my step-dad would be outside swimming then he would go inside so i would change the radio station to MY boom box & have it a normal loud level then my step-dad would go outside change the radio station lower it really low & go back inside the house right away & would be mad at me cuzzing me out for changing it in the first place

he would throw a picture of me that my mom had in the living room behind the entertainment set all the time
& in the hall my mom has a pict of the two of us & he would put it facing the wall or get the frame & put it in the cabinet

or like one time when one of my guy friend picked me up at night his cell battery had died so he got off to knock he didn’t even step a foot inside the house & my stepdad got crazy with me telling me that if guys were gonna pick me up they had to pick me up in the CORNER like if i was some whore [[i was 18 already btw]] because he didn’t want assholes inside his home

or whenever i would put clothes to dry during the day he would go turn off the dryer for wasting electricity when I was the one paying the PG&E bill or when i would be watching tv in MY room at night he wanted me to turn it off
or he would get mad for me talking on my cell phone & being on the computer all the time

& of course my mom would defend me & he would just get pissed off & leave saying that she was on my side letting me do whatever i wanted

last time we got in a huge fight was on my birthday [[last year]] nov 4th i voted for obama he voted for McCain & just because we disagreed on our points of views he got pissed off & got crazy & my mom told him to just leave the house & he told me that it was my fault & if i was happy because ive always wanted him to leave

yet i feel soo sad for him that he gave up hope to his alcoholism & he just doesn’t care about his life anymore or anything
he made my life soo miserable & he makes my mom life’s soo miserable that i really do wish that he would just go away from her life but at the same time i feel like a horrible person for wishing him to go away & my pity doesn’t let me have resentment towards him

In the novel Frankenstein (NOT any of the films) what contribution, if any, does Victor Frankensteins brother Ernest make to the plot?
Save to flesh out the Frankenstein family, he doesn’t do much, and his sufferings go largely ignored by the narrator, Frankenstein. That said, he does manage to survive the entire novel, which is more than his friends and rellies manage.
