What should i do in the military?
I am planning on going army special forces and being an engineer Sergeant (18c) Im 18, my plan is to enlist with the special forces path as my contract. Im enlisting and going to training as unassigned infantry (11x) and then im through with that and when im 18 1/2 im going to go through the SFAS and once i make that, go through the year and a half of training and continue as special forces until i feel its a good time to stop re-enlisting. This is my basic plan, not much detail, just to let you all know my current plan. But i like to keep my options open.

Im excited for the Special Forces. I’m in shape, im not worried about any of the physical stuff for SF, especially after i finish basic. Dont get me wrong, i know its gonna be hard. My biggest worry was that i might not do well on the ASVAB, but i did WAY better than i was planning on. All of the uniforms at the testing area said i could get any job i want in any branch with my scores.
Give me some ideas.
I love engineering, more specifically demolitions and (simply) building anything out of anything and having it be functional. Im the kid that spent hours of every day building models, playing with legos, making dams out of dirt in my backyard, building forts out of scrap wood 100 feet up in the trees, building habitats for all the things i found exploring the outdoors. And this is when i was little, like 4th grade. In high school i spent weeks at a time hiking through mountains and deserts around the weastern states bear grills style (survival expert, has a show on the discovery channel "Man vs. Wild"). Im putting this here to kinda give you an idea of what im good at and what i like to do.
Let me know what you think. I want something thats challenging and exciting. Something thats the top of the top. Delta Force, Force Recon, Seals, and Special Forces are thing that come to mind.
Do yourself a favor and go talk to an Air Force recruiter. With those scores you would be a perfect fit for the AF. Basic training is shorter and the people you would be working with would be much closer to your intellectual ability. As a former Air Force member and mother of a new airman I wish you the best of luck in your future.

OK, I think I need to stop you right there. Given your ASVAB scores, I think you should try for something other than infantry. Special Forces is great, but there is a strong possibility you will not make it in, and thus be stuck doing infantry for your enlistment. And this is regardless of how motivated or tough or smart you are, some people get injured, and some people just don’t have the stamina to make it through special forces, regardless of their motivation (this also applies to other types of special forces like Navy Seals as well).
Anyway, think about what I said, I don’t think you will that happy just doing infantry in the long run, which you may just end up doing, I’d pick something more intellectually stimulating (no offense to infantry, some of them are quite bright, but the job itself doesn’t tend to be intellectually challenging).
Although I do agree that Special Forces is pretty great if you get in, I think they have the best overall training around for what they do.

looks like you’ve got a good start. honestly the best thing to do would be to speak with a recruiter. they will know exactly what’s opened and available and will also know by your score what your best fit will be

Tactical engineering and building engineering are two vastly different things.
18X requires you to be age 20 I think. You don’t want to do 18X anyway because the washout rate is higher. You need tactical experience.
11X is okay but what happens if you get 11C? ick (my opinion). 19D is a good option as well as 13F. I’m partial to 13F because you get to do the grunt training and you’ll learn a lot about self location, target acquisition, fire planning, commo etc that you may not be exposed to as much as a grunt (somewhat more as a 19D). All three are great choices for SF prep but so are a lot of other combat arms jobs.
Why not go in as a 21B and see if you like tactical engineering for a couple years before you apply for SF?
You have some options but your plan will require tweaking.

You are a smart motherf*****. I had scores similar to yours and chose Infantry. Do yourself a favor…be smarter than me lol, don’t go with anything Infantry.
