Proof using Prime factorization?
I know there is other methods of proving the statement below, but
I want to prove it by using prime factorizations.
My attempt is below. I’m not too sure if my proof is valid.
Some help would be nice.

Show that If gcd (a,b) = 1, then gcd(c,ab) = gcd(c,a) * gcd(c,b)

Let the prime factorizations of a, b, c be:
a = p1^a1 * p2^a2 …p^an
b = p1^b1 * p2^b2…p^bn
c = p1^c1* p2^c2…p^cn

Since gcd(a, c) = 1, a and c share no common prime factors. This means that for each i = 1..n,
either ai = 0 or ci = 0.

min(ci, ai+bi) = [min(ci,ai)*min(ci,bi)]

If ai=0, then min(ni,0+bi) = [(min(ni,0)*min(ni,bi)]
so min(ni,0+bi) = min(ni,bi).
If bi=0, then min(ni,ai+0) = (min(ni,ai)*min(ni,0)]
so min(ni,0+ai) = min(ni,ai).

How can I conclude that gcd (a,b) = 1, then gcd(c,ab) = gcd(c,a) * gcd(c,b)?

The unborn just sucked. Don’t even bother renting it. I was extremely excited to see it, and it was such a great letdown. Terrible acting, horrendous dialogue, cheap scares, and a formulaic premise. External hard drive for time machine glitching up?
I’m using a 500GB USB Seagate external desktop hard drive for Time Machine on my mac. Every so often (ends up being every 6 months or so) I’ll wipe my macbook clean and reinstall everything (bit of an obsessive habit i got from my dad). Every time I copy over all my apps, library files, and personal files with no problem. But then when i do a new backup of the reborn computer, the hard drive glitches up (sometimes it just won’t back up, other times it thinks there’s only 2GB left as oppose to 200GB) so i have to copy whatever i might need over and wipe the time capsule itself. this has happened about 3 times and since i usually just need time machine for backups from at most a few months ago, I don’t mind, but now it’s getting on my nerves.

Today i spent all day trying to get it to backup, and when it didn’t work i tried repairing it, and when that didn’t work i finally just tried a zero-fill format just in case there was some weird data messing with it. When it was about half way through i touched it to just gently slide it along the table, and i noticed a little static discharge. Next thing i know my mac has lost connection with the drive and when it remounts it has to initialize (not that that matters).

So two questions here:

1) Which is more likely the problem? Time Machine or the hard drive itself?

2) How could it get corrupted from a static shock? I was under the impression the cases minimize that kind of stuff.

One thing you should do is make it show as two drives that way you have a drive for music and personal files, the other can be used for your back up drive and copy all info.
When you go to up grade it do a format on that drive only then run the back up.
For the second question remember that you have moving parts that use magnetic to copy to hard drive this will cause a mild static charge try to ground it some how like to the case of the emechine

Help! I got caught stealing, this is my first time. (California)?
I stole from Nordstrom today and they said they will send me a letter for my court date in a month or so.
also i am 17 years old, 4 months until im 18.
What should I do?
I have stolen before.
They said the company will fine me, and the court might fine me again.

I had tools and they could have charged me with 2 felonies but only gave me 1 misdemeanor which I am very thankful for.

Honestly, i don’t pity anyone that steals. You need to be honest and not lie. If you get caught lying, you will be in a worse situation. After the penalty, go find a job. I don’t care if it is flipping burgers, or scraping crap off a bathroom floor, just work. If you cannot find work, then find a charity in your community that can help your family. But to be stealing from Nordstrom tells me that the theft wasn’t one of necessity. This will make it so they have no sympathy as it is a selfish act. You take from a store, which then has lower sales which then makes it so they have to fire someone else, and you put someone else in your families position.

Shame on you. Never do this sort of thing again…
